The U.S. congressional Helsinki Commission will meet with Jewish leaders in Prague next week.
The commission, which monitors human rights overseas, is touring the Czech Republic and Austria from Feb. 18-22. Its members will attend a meeting of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe in Vienna. In Prague, they will meet with Jewish and Romani leaders as part of an effort to monitor treatment in the region of minorities.
The mission will include the commission’s co-chairmen, Rep. Alcee Hastings (D-Fla.) and Sen. Ben Cardin (D-Md.) as well as Reps. Louise Slaughter (D-N.Y.), Hilda Solis (D-Calif.) and Michael McNulty (D-N.Y.)
