An award has been established in memory of the late Tom Lantos.
The Young Democrats of America Jewish Caucus announced the creation of the Tom P. Lantos Award on Tuesday. The award will be given annually to a public figure who exemplifies Lantos’ dedication to public service and defense of the vulnerable, according to a statement.
Lantos, a Democrat from California and the only Holocaust survivor ever elected to Congress, died last week of esophageal cancer.
