British police are investigating a death threat against the Israeli coach of the Chelsea soccer club.
Scotland Yard said Wednesday that Avram Grant, who took over as coach of Chelsea last year, had received a package containing a white power and a threatening note.
The powder prompted an anthrax scare but proved to be harmless, police said, adding that they were trying to determine who sent the package.
According to authorities, the letter threatened both Grant and his wife, Tzofit, a flamboyant media personality in Israel.
Grant’s appointment to take over Chelsea’s training raised eyebrows among fans of the premier league team, but a series of wins since have shored up his support base.
