Taglit-Birthright Israel awarded free trips to Israel to 16 parents of program alumni.
Birthright announced the winners Thursday of its “Let My Parents Go” contest.
North American Birthright alumni were asked to submit video applications explaining why their parents should be given a Birthright trip. Since 2000, Birthright has sent more than 160,000 Diaspora Jews aged 18 to 26 on free 10-day trips to Israel.
The videos of the 60 applicants were posted on Birthright’s Web site, and the general public voted on the winners.
The winners are Renee and Alan Feinman; Nanette and Alan Fine; Elena and Peter Frenkel; Eilene and Jeffry Kleiman; Barbara Levenstein; Judith and Wayne Meyer; Sara Robinson; Cindy and Christopher Shelton; and Phyllis Kaplan-Silverman and Elliot Silverman.
They come from New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Florida, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Illinois.
