A second Jewish television channel is now available to Time Warner cable subscribers in New York and New Jersey.
The Jewish Channel, a video-on-demand service, became available to 1.4 million Time Warner customers on June 11. For a monthly fee, subscribers can see on-demand programming on a range of Jewish topics.
“Many have described us as a Jewish HBO,” said Aaron Hornung, a spokesman for TJC, noting that the channel is “like a Jewish film festival in your living room.”
In addition to a library of Jewish-related films, the channel also is producing original content, including three programs in partnership with the Forward, a Jewish weekly newspaper.
Time Warner also carries Shalom TV, a free Jewish video-on-demand channel.
