Israeli commandos killed a Hamas terrorist in the West Bank.
An undercover Israeli unit tried to arrest a Hamas fugitive in Kafr Dan, a village near Jenin, late Wednesday, but shot him when he fled. He later died of his wounds.
The Hamas man had been planning terrorist attacks in Israel, security sources said.
The killing looked likely to put a new strain on a three-week-old truce between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Though the cease-fire does not apply to the West Bank, Israeli raids there have drawn several reprisal shellings by Palestinian terrorists in Gaza.
