A series of gas explosions damaged a historic Jewish cemetery in Toronto.
About 20 gravestones were damaged Sunday morning at Mount Sinai Memorial Park from the explosions at a propane facility in North York.
One person was killed and at least 60 injured, according to reports. The blasts forced thousands from their homes.
The burial ground has about 10,000 monuments, some dating to the 1920s. The windows of the chapel also were blown out.
The cemetery’s manager, Phil Grenfell, said the cemetery will be closed at least for the rest of the week while the extent of the damage is assessed.
“It looks like a battlefield,” he told the National Post.
