JERUSALEM (JTA) — Israeli soldiers working along the northern border came under fire from Syria.

The soldiers left the area after Sunday’s incident without returning fire at what is believed to be a lone gunman. Some army vehicles were damaged in the attack.

The gunman likely acted alone and it is unclear whether he was a civilian or a soldier, according to reports.

Israel filed a complaint with the United Nations observer agency in Syria, UNDOF.

It is the second attack on Israel’s northern border in less than a week. On Thursday, at least three Katyusha rockets shot from Lebanon struck a retirement home in Nahariya, injuring two.
