JERUSALEM (JTA) — American businessman Morris Talansky said he will return to Israel to complete his testimony in a fraud investigation against Ehud Olmert.
Talansky’s lawyers sent a letter Tuesday to Israel’s State Attorney Moshe Lador informing him of their client’s willingness to continue his testimony, which began last summer.
Talansky is the key witness in the investigation, in which the outgoing prime minister is accused of accepting envelopes full of cash from Talansky totaling approximately $150,000 over the course of more than a decade.
Earlier this month, Israeli Attorney General Menachem Mazuz announced that he would indict Olmert in the affair.
Talansky, of Long Island, N.Y., is being investigated in the United States for alleged money laundering and tax fraud. In January, the U.S. granted him partial immunity from his testimony in Israel.
