NEW YORK (JTA) — An Israeli tourist vacationing in Egypt was stabbed.
The local governor, Mohammed Hani Metwalli, said the man was stabbed Monday by a Libyan laborer at a resort in Nuweiba, The Associated Press reported.
A spokeswoman for Yoseftal Hospital in Eilat confirmed that a man with a stab wound had been treated.
Authorities are searching for the assailant, who fled after the attack but left behind his passport.
Israeli officials issued a warning last week of possible attacks in Sinai, a popular destination for Israeli tourists during Passover week.
