JERUSALEM (JTA) — Israeli security forces arrested a Palestinian suspected in the stabbing of an Israeli soldier.
The identity of the suspect arrested Monday has not yet been released.
The soldier was riding a bus in the central Israeli city of Ramat Gan Sunday when he was stabbed in the neck by another rider. Reports differ as to whether the soldier was on the bus or just exiting when he was stabbed. The attacker fled.
The soldier told paramedics the attacker was an Arab. Police are looking into the likelihood that the knifing was a terror attack, but have not ruled out other motivations.
During the search Sunday evening, dozens of Palestinians were arrested in the Tel Aviv area for being in Israel illegally, the Jerusalem Post reported.
