JERUSALEM (JTA) — Four Palestinians were arrested for the 2006 murder of a Jewish doctor.

The Shin Bet, Israel’s security agency, arrested the four men from the Kalkilya area in April and May; news of the arrest was cleared for publication Wednesday.

The body of Dr. Daniel Yaakobi, from the West Bank settlement of Yakir, was found burned in the trunk of his car near the Palestinian city of Kalkilya in July 2006.

One of the men, who range in age from 19 to 26, admitted murdering Yaakobi to avenge the death of Khamada Shativi, an Al Aksa Martyrs Brigades terrorist who was killed by security forces while attempting to evade capture the day before the murder.

Tioun Hadi Khalil Tioun, a member of the Fatah military wing Tanzim and student at Abu Dis University, said he murdered Yaakobi after the doctor brought his car to his brother’s garage in Kalkilya for repairs.
