JERUSALEM (JTA) — A passenger on an El Al flight to New York was arrested after he tried to open the plane’s door seconds before takeoff.
The man, reportedly suffering from claustrophobia, ran toward the plane door as it taxied on the runway at Ben Gurion International Airport near Tel Aviv. A stewardess and other passengers stopped him and the plane returned to the gate.
The man was arrested and questioned by airport police.
The plane took off two hours later.
