JERUSALEM (JTA) — An Israeli woman became the country’s 13th swine flu fatality.
The 27-year-old woman was sent home from an Israeli emergency room last week where she sought treatment after developing a cough and a fever. She returned last Friday and was admitted as a swine flu case. She appeared to be stable but died suddenly on Sunday, according to reports. An autopsy found that the woman, who was overweight but not obese, died of pneumonia as a complication of swine flu, Ha’aretz reported Monday.
The woman’s family has accused the hospital of medical negligence for sending her home from the emergency room on her first visit, and for not caring for her in the intensive care unit.
