The American Gathering of Holocaust Survivors beat J Street to condemning Hamas for its insistence that UNRWA cut Holocaust education from its schools; Their statement came out on Monday, J Street’s on Tuesday.
And here it is:
The American Gathering of Jewish Holocaust Survivors and Their Descendants decries the latest HAMAS declaration condemning the United Nations for believing that the Holocaust took place. HAMAS announced it will ignore the Holocaust history in UNWRA textbooks, and will teach its children that the Holocaust is a figment of Jewish imagination designed to justify the existence of the State of Israel.
In a statement issued earlier today, the Gathering said,
"Hamas has joined the notorious President Ahmedinejad of Iran in the disgraceful ranks of hate-mongers who deny the tragic story of the Holocaust. This is not ignorance, but a willful act of heinous intent. It reveals that their base hostility to Israel is inexorably bound up with their shameful bigotry to the Jewish people and its history. The true character of Hamas is exposed in such statements."
And well said it is.
