JERUSALEM (JTA) — Ehud Olmert is slated to be arraigned on Friday in a Jerusalem court on charges of double-billing for overseas trips.
The date of the arraigment was moved up after a request from the former prime minister’s attorney. Olmert is facing charges of fraud, breach of trust, failure to report income and corporate document forging in the case, in which he allegedly double-billed charities for flights arranged through the Rishon Tours travel agency. He allegedly used the extra money to pay for family trips.
Olmert is also charged in two other corrpution cases. Olmert, 63, will be the first Israeli prime minister ever to stand trial.
