JERUSALEM (JTA) — Birthright Israel began celebrating its 10th anniversary.
Some 400 Birthright participants arrived in Israel on Tuesday, joined by alumni of the program from the past 10 years.
Israeli public figures and key donors to the program, which provides free 10-day trips to Israel for Jewish young adults who have never visited the Jewish state on an organized tour, greeted the flight and attended a special ceremony. On hand were Diaspora Affairs Minister Yuli Edelstein and philanthropist Sheldon Adelson, who is a major Birthright supporter.
