JERUSALEM (JTA) — Israel’s Air Force struck a weapons-smuggling tunnel in the southern Gaza Strip.
The attack was in response to the firing of rockets at Israel over the last few days, the Israel Defense Forces said. Nine rockets launched from Gaza have landed in southern Israel in the past five days; a foreign worker was killed in one of the attacks.
Residents of the Negev spent the weekend in bomb shelters, Haaretz reported. Last Friday night, Israel’s Air Force struck Gaza targets twice, reportedly injuring a dozen Palestinians.
