I’ve resented for years the public treatment of [Anti-Defamation League National Director] Abe Foxman as a “leading Jewish spokesman.” But with the “downgrading” of the swastika as a Jewish hate symbol — depending on its “context” — he and the ADL ought to be ashamed of themselves (“ADL Downgrades Swastika As Jewish Hate Symbol,” July 30). Before this outrageous action, I would have thought it inconceivable that the symbol of unspeakable evil could be measured through grades of political correctness.
What’s next for equivocation? How about “Never Again, Depending on Circumstances,” or try “Arbeit Macht Frei, Sometimes.”
