JERUSALEM (JTA) — An Israeli citizen suspected of murdering two women in the United States was arrested at Ben Gurion Airport.
Yvgeny Perchikov, who was indicted in New York last November for murdering two girlfriends allegedly to collect on their life insurance policies, was arrested Tuesday while trying to leave Israel following a short visit, according to Haaretz. He also is accused of several insurance fraud schemes.
Perchikov, an immigrant from Russia and a trained doctor, is also known as Eyal Shachar. His girlfriends died in 2002 and 2004, each after being injected with an unknown substance. Perchikov collected on a $1 million life insurance policy after the first death.
