From the White House briefing underway just now — Robert Gibbs will not directly reply rto AP’s Ben Feller’s question as to whether the U.S. "backs stands by Mubarak."
Gibbs notes that Obama has not spoken with Mubarak. He adds:
This is a situation that will be solved by the people in Egypt.
We will be reviewing our assistance posture based on events that take place in the coming days.
This will be solved by the Egyptian people.
There is a verty important opportunity for the Egyptian government to address grievances that have been in place for a number of years.
