Regarding “Investing in Education” (Feb. 4) your readers will be interested to know that as part of a major national undertaking to boost the technological aptitude of Israeli youth and raise their competitive edge on an international level, Boys Town Jerusalem has been selected by the Israeli Ministry of Education as one of only 25 schools in the country to offer an intensive, augmented curriculum of technological studies, set to begin at the upcoming school year.
In conjunction with the program, Boys Town’s seventh- and 10th- grade classes will be offering a 50 percent increase in the hours of instruction in math, physics, technical engineering and sciences. According to Principal Yossi Cohen, Boys Town Jerusalem was a natural choice for the prestigious appointment. He noted that in 1990 it became the first school in Israel to launch the Comprehensive Interdisciplinary Technology (CIT) track of studies into its high school, offering a broad-based curriculum in a host of technological subjects, which has proven to be both innovative and extremely successful — and signaled a new direction in technological studies throughout Israel and the world.
