JERUSALEM (JTA) — Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife have taken trips abroad funded by private businessmen since he returned to politics, an Israeli investigative news show alleged.

"Makor," which aired Wednesday night on Channel 10, accused Netanyahu of taking 16 privately financed trips while serving his second term as prime minister and as a Cabinet minister.

The program alleged that he accepted privately financed flights, luxury hotel stays and upscale restaurant meals from wealthy businessmen and Jewish organizations.

The opposition Kadima Party filed an official complaint Thursday with Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein asking him to investigate the allegations made on the program.
