JERUSALEM (JTA) — Israel’s Supreme Court ordered the state to raze Migron, the largest illegal West Bank outpost, by April.

The ruling handed down Tuesday comes in response to a lawsuit filed by Peace Now.

About 50 families live in the outpost located five miles north of Jerusalem. The Israeli government has admitted that it was built on Palestinian-owned land with state funds used for the infrastructure and has committed to evacuating the outpost on more than one occasion.

The residents of the outpost agreed to relocate to an undeveloped area of the nearby settlement of Adam, but the new neighborhood has not yet been built.

Also Tuesday, 12 residents of the Yitzhar settlement allegedly involved in attacks against Palestinians were served with restraining orders preventing them from entering the West Bank for six months to one year. The Shin Bet security service alleged that over the past two years they have perpetrated arson attacks on West Bank mosques, as well as on vehicles and buildings that belong to Palestinians.

"According to security assessments, these acts and more so the igniting of mosques, can be potentially detrimental to the entire area," said a statement from the Israeli military.
