JERUSALEM (JTA) — An Israeli airstrike killed a leader of Islamic Jihad in Gaza, while a Palestinian rocket from Gaza reportedly landed in Egypt, injuring a woman there.

Israel’s Air Force struck the vehicle of a local Islamic Jihad leader in Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip early Wednesday morning, Palestinian and Israeli sources said. The strike came shortly after the IDF struck at rocket crews in the area. The Israel Defense Forces said the assassinated man was responsible for funding last week’s terrorist attacks near Eilat.

The woman from Rafah, Egypt was injured when she was struck by a rocket fired from Gaza.

Also Wednesday, at least two rockets fired from Gaza struck southern Israel, suggesting that the tentative Hamas ceasefire there is not holding. Still, rocket fire is down significantly from the beginning of the week.
