JERUSALEM (JTA) — Israel’s Air Force struck what the military called two "terror activity sites" in the Gaza Strip.

The attacks early Thursday morning were in response to four rockets fired on southern Israel Wednesday night, according to a statement from the Israel Defense Forces spokesman.

The Air Force pilots reported direct hits on the targets. The targets were a Hamas training center in eastern Gaza and an Islamic Jihad training center in central Gaza, the Palestinian Ma’an news service reported. Six people were injured in the strikes, according to the report.

"The IDF will not tolerate any attempt to harm Israeli civilians, and will operate against anyone who uses terror against the state of Israel. The Hamas terror organization is solely responsible for any terrorist activity emanating from the Gaza Strip," the IDF said in a statement.
