Israel, Lebanon, Axl, Slash

Tom Friedman wrote in 1996 that no two countries with McDonald’s can go to war.

Ten years later, Israel and Lebanon, presumptuously enough, disproved this thesis by going to war.

As if that weren’t bad enough,  the two countries continue to compete for the world’s largest hummus claim.

Exacerbating these tensions, I discovered today that a week before that latest incarnation of an Axl Rose-led Guns ‘N Roses played Tel Aviv, his hated former bandmate, Slash, performed many of the same songs in Byblos.

Where do we go now, indeed?

Tom?
