Despite Ari L. Goldman’s assertion that the re-election of Barack Obama is a “clear mandate,” it should be noted that the Democratic victory was a scant 2.8 percent (“Obama And The Orthodox,” Nov. 30).
Also, Goldman’s article fails to explain the overall Jewish vote for Obama falling from 78 percent to 69 percent in just four years. And while it was his view that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton engineered (even in part) the Gaza cease-fire, it was Egypt and Turkey that brokered the deal. Full announcement of the agreement had to be held up in order to wait for Clinton to arrive on the scene.
