Want Jewish comedian Sarah Silverman as a digital pen pal?
Of course you do.
All you have to do is donate $5,000 to Jerusalem-based solar energy company Energiya Global, which is run by her brother-in-law, Yosef “Captain Sunshine” Abramowitz.
Abramowitz is an active supporter of green energy, initiating projects all around the world. His latest project involves a goal of turning a landfill on the San Cristobal Island into a 300-kilowatt, 1,200-panel solar field, since the Galapagos Islands currently on electricity of diesel fuel that results in pollution. Captain Sunshine is looking for $250,000 in donations, and is not ashamed to use his famed sister-in-law to help him get there, Green Prophet reports.
Silverman has pledged to send 50 signed autographs to the first people who send $75 in donations, and one lucky donor will get to skype with Silverman if they pledge $5,000.
Here’s a rather amusing video of Abramowitz giving his pitch for the project– if the Silverman skype thing isn’t reason enough to donate, look how cute he is in his cape!
