JERUSALEM (JTA) — The Israeli military searched near the northern border town of Metullah following reports of a rocket fired on the area.
Residents in the area reported hearing a rocket blast early Monday morning.
A Hezbollah-affiliated news network based in Lebanon also reported Monday that a rocket was fired at northern Israel from southern Lebanon.
No launches were identified, the Israel Defense Forces told Israeli media, and no landing site or rocket fragments were located.
The alleged rocket firing on northern Israel comes a day after two rockets alleged to be fired by Syrian rebel groups struck two Hezbollah neighborhoods in southern Beirut, bringing Lebanon closer to entering the fray, according to reports.
The attack also came as Israel was starting a daylong national preparedness drill for rocket attacks.
