Note to the Israeli prime minister: don’t demand a bed on a five-hour flight when you’re trying to pass an austerity budget.
Benjamin Netanyahu learned that lesson well after he spent $127,000 for sleeping arrangements on his flight to Margaret Thatcher’s funeral in April. Israeli media pounced on the bed as an example of excess and Yediot Aharonot, one of Israel’s leading papers, even wrote an editorial admonishing Netanyahu for the price tag.
Well, Bibi seems to have learned his lesson. Here he is, in a photo posted on his Facebook page, flying economy class on one of Israel’s budget airlines, Arkia, for a diplomatic visit to Poland. We’ll see how long this belt-tightening measure lasts.
