Miranda July, a Jewish artist, filmmaker, and writer, has always been fascinated with other people’s lives. As part of her new art exhibit, ‘We Think Alone,‘ July is collecting emails from famous people and delivering them to your inbox each week. Starting this Monday, July 1st, and running until November 2013, you can sign up to receive a medley of emails from various creative types based on a weekly themes. This week’s first theme is money.
In an interview with Huffington Post, July speaks of her seemingly ‘mundane’ interest, “I’ve tried to get friends to do this with me before: let’s send each other emails that we’ve sent to our moms or our boyfriends or something. There is something about the mundane-ness that feels very intimate to me.’
July’s collection’s allows readers to get a glimpse into the daily musings and correspondence of people like Lee Smolin, Kirsten Dunst, Lena Dunham, and Etgar Keret.
