Hudson Institute’s Weinstein picked for Broadcasting Board of Governors

WASHINGTON (JTA) — Kenneth Weinstein, a prominent Jewish conservative thinker, was appointed to the Broadcasting Board of Governors.

President Obama named Weinstein, the president of the Hudson Institute, a conservative Washington think tank, to the post on Tuesday.

The Broadcasting Board of Governors supervises U.S. government-run international media, most prominently the Voice of America.

Weinstein in his writings focuses on the Middle East and Europe. He has published extensively in French and been decorated with France’s Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, which recognizes eminent artists and writers.

He has been deeply involved in the Washington-area Jewish community and was president several years ago of the Jewish Primary Day School of the Nation’s Capital.
