JERUSALEM (JTA) — Israeli soldiers shot and killed a Palestinian man who the Israeli military said did not heed warnings as he crossed from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory.
According to the Israel Defense Forces, the man was holding what the IDF described as a suspicious object and had been digging in the ground on the Gaza side of the border fence. He was discovered to be unarmed, according to reports.
The Palestinian man had entered Israel at a place where explosives have been placed in the past in order to attack Israeli patrols.
The IDF has launched an investigation into the incident.
