If there’s anything worse than spending the day atoning at shul on an empty stomach, it’s the knowledge that Isaac Mizrahi is not suffering in exactly the same way you are. At least this is true if you’re part of the New York City Jewish community that, according to the New York Daily News, is furious over the designer’s Yom Kippur QVC appearance.
While there’s a chance Brooklyn-born, yeshiva-educated Mizrahi made it to Kol Nidre — he was not on air after sundown on Friday — he did appear on TV to sell his Isaac Mizrahi Live! collection on Saturday. The icing on the sin cake: He sent out a few tweets, too.
“He’s created a big stir in the community by selling his goods on Yom Kippur. It’s the holiest day on the Jewish calendar,” a source said. “There is talk of many Jews boycotting his products because of his outlandish appearance on his show.”
Two questions: Who exactly is involved in this “talk”? And what were they doing watching QVC on Yom Kippur?
