“Ant-Man” is shaping up to be quite the Jewish superhero flick. According to Variety, Michael Douglas will star as Hank Pym, joining already-committed Paul Rudd. At first everyone thought Rudd was playing Pym, but instead he’s really playing Scott Lang, a reformed thief. The confusion stems from the fact both Pym and Lang have been alter-egos of the superhero Ant-Man in Marvel comics. Comic book geeks, discuss.
What a week for Andy Samberg. First the “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” star basically won the Golden Globes, and now, his jokey rap group The Lonely Island, formed with his childhood friends Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone, has scored a deal with Fox.
Their role will be “to oversee the development of comedy projects that will be nurtured through digital platforms like Hulu and Roku, with the goal of bringing them to series on a 21st Century Fox-owned network — Fox, FX or FXX — as well as others,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. A little bit less confusing than the whole “Ant-Man” thing. Sort of.
Comedy Central has ordered a Ben Stiller-produced comedy series about a pair of delusional filmmaker brothers, Entertainment Weekly reports. It will be called “Big Time in Hollywood, FL.” Per a statement from Stiller himself, the show “combines the directorial style of Hitchcock, the acting prowess of Streep, the budget of House of Payne, and the nutritional value of Velveeta. I think people’s minds will be blown wide open. For real.”
