JERUSALEM (JTA) — Four Israeli soldiers patrolling the border with Syria were injured, one seriously, when a roadside bomb was detonated next to their jeep.

The attack took place on Tuesday afternoon near the Druze village of Majdal Shams on the Golan Heights. The bomb was planted near the border fence.

Prior to the explosion, the Israel Defense Forces said it identified “suspicious movement” near the border.

The patrol reportedly also came under light fire. Israeli soldiers returned artillery fire into Syrian territory, according to the IDF.

Israel has informed the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force, or UNDOF, of the incident.

On Friday, a bomb was detonated near an Israeli military patrol near the border with Lebanon.
