JERUSALEM (JTA) — A Palestinian resident of eastern Jerusalem was indicted for assisting the escape of an alleged accomplice in the kidnapping and murder of three Israeli teens.
Wael Karameh, 43, was charged Tuesday in Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court with harboring a criminal and obstruction of justice.
Karameh is accused of hiding his cousin, Hussam Kawasame, in his home for three days after the bodies of Israeli teenagers Naftali Fraenkel, Gilad Shaar and Eyal Yifrach were found on land Kawasame owns near Hebron.
Hussam Kawasame, who was arrested last month and admitted to planning the attack, said during his interrogation that he helped bury the bodies on a plot of land he had purchased two months prior to the murders. He then helped the two men who drove the car and shot the teens hide.
