TEL AVIV (JTA) — Israeli soldiers killed a Palestinian man and wounded another in a gunfire exchange in the West Bank.
Israeli troops were arresting a suspect in the Qalandiya refugee camp near Jerusalem on Tuesday morning when they were fired upon, according to Israeli reports. The soldiers responded with fire. A man then threw an explosive device at the soldiers and they fired back, killing him.
The slain Palestinian was identified as Mahmoud Adwan, according to reports. No soldiers were injured in the clash.
Qalandiya has been the site of previous shootings. In July, two Palestinians were killed in clashes at a riot in Qalandiya. In 2013, Israeli soldiers killed three Palestinians after coming under attack there.
