Israeli soldier stabbed while preventing Palestinian infiltration

The Palestinian was attempting to cross into Israel through the security fence from the West Bank, about 15 miles east of Tel Aviv.

JERUSALEM (JTA) — An Israeli soldier was stabbed while preventing a Palestinian man from infiltrating the security fence into Israel.

The soldier, a commander of a paratrooper unit, was stabbed in the torso during the infiltration attempt from the West Bank on Thursday, according to the IDF spokesman. He was taken to a hospital after being treated in the field.

The Palestinian was attempting to cross into Israel through the fence near the community of Oranit, about 15 miles east of Tel Aviv.

The attacker was one of six Palestinians attempting to cross into Israel, according to the IDF. All of the attempted infiltrators were arrested.
