JERUSALEM (JTA) — A Palestinian man reportedly lost an eye during clashes with Israel border police in eastern Jerusalem.
Residents of the Palestinian-Arab Shuafat neighborhood threw stones at Israeli security forces on Sunday evening as they raided the area for a wanted suspect, according to reports. Police responded with riot control gear, including tear gas and sponge-tipped bullets.
The man, 55, was hit in the eye with a sponge-tipped bullet, according to reports citing Palestinian locals. Haaretz reported that he lost the eye. The man was taken for medical treatment, according to the Israel Police.
A store security camera showed that the man was not involved with the stone throwing, Haaretz reported.
