(JTA) — Israelis are bracing for two major corruption scandals involving two high-ranking politicians.
The existence of the separate scandals, both in the preliminary stages of investigation, was reported in several Israeli media outlets Tuesday night. Few details have been released.
One case involves suspicions of “severe” corruption, according to Channel 2, while the other, investigated in part by State Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit, is believed to be less severe and tied to suspicions of illegal political funding.
Citing Channel 2, the Times of Israel reported that the politicians under investigation are “considered to be close associates.” Both investigations began after last year’s elections.
