I would like to thank and applaud Erica Brown for her wonderful column on kosher catering at Jewish charity functions (“Exclusion On The Menu,” May 6).
I am the director of fundraising for UJIA Scotland and have the same discussion with my management committee every time I am planning an event. They still don’t understand why all food and drinks must be glatt kosher. I will use Erica’s words when offering up my explanation next time. I will also use it to my donors when they question the cost of events as, being quite a small community with very little competition in the kosher catering stakes, it is slightly dearer than regular catering.
