JERUSALEM (JTA) — Israeli soldiers shot and seriously wounded a Palestinian man who ran toward them with a knife in the West Bank.
The Palestinian, believed to be in his 20s, failed to heed a warning to stop in the Wednesday afternoon incident at the Gush Etzion junction, according to the Israel Defense Forces. In response to the immediate threat, the IDF said, soldiers fired at the would-be assailant. He was hit in the stomach and taken to the hospital for treatment in serious condition.
There have been several knife attacks and car rammings at the junction in the past two years.
