JERUSALEM (JTA) — An Israel Air Force jet struck a Hamas outpost in Gaza in response to arson balloons launched from Gaza toward southern Israel.

The attack occurred on Wednesday night, the IDF said.

At least two balloons carrying explosives landed in Israeli territory on Wednesday. One sparked a fire in an agricultural field. Incendiary balloons also were launched toward southern Israel on Tuesday, sparking at least one fire. They are the first such attacks in several months.

Along with the balloons, Palestinians have begun nightly raids on the border with Gaza, including burning tires, throwing explosives and attempted infiltrations.
