JERUSALEM (JTA) — Benjamin Netanyahu may have had to abort his visit to Washington, but he made his time count — at least for his re-election campaign.
Netanyahu remained in D.C. long enough to meet on Monday morning with President Donald Trump, including participating in the signing of a declaration recognizing Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights.
Early Tuesday morning, Netanyahu posted on social media the official White House 30-second video of the meeting, ending with his Likud party’s campaign slogan: “Netanyahu. Strong. Right.”
Netanyahu, who also serves as Israel’s defense minister, boarded a plane to return to Israel shortly after the meeting in order to manage the country’s response to a Hamas rocket attack from Gaza in which a long-range rocket scored a direct hit on a home in central Israel, injuring seven.
