Democrat Dennis Shulman, the rabbi aiming to take out GOP incumbent U.S. Rep. Scott Garrett in N.J.’s 5th District, has issued a release heralding the fact that he raised about $190,000 in the last three months of 2007 and has about $173,000 on hand entering 2008. Garrett had $332,116 on hand as of September 30, 2007 (we’ll put in a call for an updated figure).

Democratic Candidate for Congress Dennis Shulman Raises Nearly $200,000 in 2007 Support for Shulman for Congress continues to grow
Demarest, NJ – The thirst for real leadership for Northern New Jersey that drove Dennis Shulman to run for Congress in New Jersey’s fifth congressional led to an outpouring of financial support, with the Shulman for Congress campaign announcing nearly $190,000 in contributions in its first three and a half months.
“The enthusiasm from all corners of the district is resounding,” said Shulman. “And we’re just getting started.”
“I have been overwhelmed and humbled by the enthusiasm for change here in New Jersey,” Shulman continued. “Our campaign is still fresh, but we are committed to bringing this district the kind of sensible leadership that the people are thirsting for.”
Shulman has roughly $173,000 cash on hand entering 2008.
