A delegation of American astronauts visited Israel.

The commander of the U.S. Air Force Space Command, Gen. C. Robert Kehler, and a delegation of astronauts from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration completed a four-day working visit to Israel over the weekend.

The visit was part of the International Space Conference held in Herzliya to honor Col. Ilan Ramon, Israel’s first astronaut, who perished in the 2003 Columbia space shuttle disaster.

An Israeli military spokesman said that during the visit, the U.S. delegation discussed stepping up cooperation on space projects with the Jewish state.

Kehler held talks with Israel’s armed forces chief, Lt.-Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi, and Air Force commander, Maj.-Gen. Eliezer Shkedi.
