A woman who threatened to blow herself up outside the Knesset surrendered after three hours of negotiations.

Reportedly she was infuriated by insufficient state aid for her two disabled children.

The single mother from Ashkelon parked a van outside the Israeli parliament building Sunday and told authorities the vehicle contained a gas canister that could blow up as part of a protest against government negligence, according to Israeli media reports.

The woman had failed in her efforts to get state-subsidized wheelchairs for her children.

Witnesses said the woman had a girl with her in the car and that she held a knife to her own throat, threatening to commit suicide.

Police and Knesset officials negotiated her surrender in part with promises to help her deal with the situation that drove her to the standoff.
