The Bush administration took multiple actions against a Dubai-based company for allegedly supplying Iran’s weapons systems.
In statements issued Wednesday, the departments of State, Commerce, Treasury and Justice unsealed 16 criminal subpoenas against individuals associated with the Mayrow General Trading Company and placed more than 100 entities affiliated with the group on ban lists.
Some of the targets allegedly supplied parts for roadside bombs targeting U.S.-led troops in Iraq, while others are “dual use” items that may be used in developing nuclear weapons.
“Today’s actions are a continuation of the U.S. Government’s efforts to halt Iran’s involvement in the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and their means of delivery,” the State Department statement said. “This ability of Iran to use this network to support its global procurement activities highlights Iran’s deceptive practices in the international commercial system and the risk associated with doing business with Iran.”
